Silence Has No Meaning
We're all prisoners in our minds
Trapped within our kind
Never speaking them out loud
Cause we can't
Intentions lose their place
In the emptiness of space
Created between ourselves
Forever lost in the silence
In the end it's all the same
Cause it never gets a name
We're too afraid of what it takes
To take risk and stand
Water closes in over our heads
As we lie awake in our beds
Wondering what was missing all along
But we don't really care
Trapped within our kind
Never speaking them out loud
Cause we can't
Intentions lose their place
In the emptiness of space
Created between ourselves
Forever lost in the silence
In the end it's all the same
Cause it never gets a name
We're too afraid of what it takes
To take risk and stand
Water closes in over our heads
As we lie awake in our beds
Wondering what was missing all along
But we don't really care
A Smile
We’ve only shared a moment of our lives
So many memories we have to hide behind
I don’t know who you are when you’re alone
And you don’t know all the troubles I own
Is that smile really there
Or is it full of empty air
A way to disarm those prying eyes
A charming, lucid, blank disguise
Don’t you know they have fallen in love
With the charm in your smile that you know is fake
Don’t you know to them it won’t be enough
Eventually there’ll be no more left to take
So many memories we have to hide behind
I don’t know who you are when you’re alone
And you don’t know all the troubles I own
Is that smile really there
Or is it full of empty air
A way to disarm those prying eyes
A charming, lucid, blank disguise
Don’t you know they have fallen in love
With the charm in your smile that you know is fake
Don’t you know to them it won’t be enough
Eventually there’ll be no more left to take
Stuck In Motion
You are moving on and I remain
Yet you are stagnant in your pain
And I can sail beyond the road
Unburdened by my heavy load
Because I know to whom I cry
While you, half-hearted, barely try
Content to ease the bleeding stain
With nothing but a fleeting gain
Of happiness. Why do the wise
Only see through moistened eyes?
Fools with masked and smiling faces
I know will someday lose these races
We are running. I will prevail
Against the noise and beating hail
Waiting for that whisper to
Come to life inside of you.
I see the ache that you despise
Darkening in your tearless eyes
When you look away from me
And wonder why no heart is free.
You may be moving through your life
But so am I. No fear or strife
Will pull me to the ground
And although I will feel every pound
I’ll walk as if I don't. So while
You drag your feet with every mile
I’ll fly above with sunlit wings
As you cling to earthly things.
Be wary of those demons hidden
That spring against your soul unbidden.
Don't linger in your movement now
Just long enough to notice how
The circles here are getting small.
Just stop moving; be quiet, still—
And perhaps you'll hear that call.
Contrite, you'll turn from where you roam.
And let it finally lead you home.
Yet you are stagnant in your pain
And I can sail beyond the road
Unburdened by my heavy load
Because I know to whom I cry
While you, half-hearted, barely try
Content to ease the bleeding stain
With nothing but a fleeting gain
Of happiness. Why do the wise

To Wait
The sun dips low as night starts to grow
The cold sets deep within my bones
Yet still I sit, perched on a post
Always waiting for what matters most
Fireflies dance across the breezy dark air
Knowing they could go freely anywhere
While I sit on the fence to watch the sky
Waiting as I see my life pass me by
Above me the stars are glowing bright
They'll never burn out but I just might
As I take a deep breath, one single sigh
And wait alone, to say that I tried
The cold sets deep within my bones
Yet still I sit, perched on a post
Always waiting for what matters most
Fireflies dance across the breezy dark air
Knowing they could go freely anywhere
While I sit on the fence to watch the sky
Waiting as I see my life pass me by
Above me the stars are glowing bright
They'll never burn out but I just might
As I take a deep breath, one single sigh
And wait alone, to say that I tried
Touch
I feel the same caress of warmth today
That thaws the rivers of your pensive mood
Across the world. You are so far away,
And yet the same delight confronts you too.
Does every kiss of sun cause you to raise
Your heavy head to contemplate the skies
That stretch from end to end across your gaze,
That shield infinity from distant eyes?
Perhaps it’s only me that thinks the span
A single object holds can bring us near,
As if it were a realistic plan
To reach beyond the facts of life I fear.
I only want to know if you can see
The same embrace of light that clings to me.
Welcome The Rain
Our emotions are like water
In a shallow puddle
We spread them out for the world to see
So that they become muddled
They get flung aside
Left out for the sun
To burn them out ‘til there’s nothing left
And nowhere else to run
This puddle, it dries so quickly
Leaving nothing but a stain
Don’t scatter the drops as far as you can
Welcome the rain
In a shallow puddle
We spread them out for the world to see
So that they become muddled
They get flung aside
Left out for the sun
To burn them out ‘til there’s nothing left
And nowhere else to run
This puddle, it dries so quickly
Leaving nothing but a stain
Don’t scatter the drops as far as you can
Welcome the rain
Winter's Coming
The
spring was sprung from winter’s careful grip,
For it was coiled for so very long
Beneath the frosted stones, stalactite drip
Of water frozen in suspended song.
Its touch was slow as it caressed the sky,
Compelling it to blush a brighter blue.
The resurrected breeze evoked a sigh
From every brittle leaf through which it blew.
But still I felt a dark remaining chill,
Ingrained within the roots around my soul,
Rebellious to the spring’s pervasive will,
Although with every breath I fought its pull.
I shielded willful ears from summer’s call,
And wished for winter’s coming, autumn’s fall.
For it was coiled for so very long
Beneath the frosted stones, stalactite drip
Of water frozen in suspended song.
Its touch was slow as it caressed the sky,
Compelling it to blush a brighter blue.
The resurrected breeze evoked a sigh
From every brittle leaf through which it blew.
But still I felt a dark remaining chill,
Ingrained within the roots around my soul,
Rebellious to the spring’s pervasive will,
Although with every breath I fought its pull.
I shielded willful ears from summer’s call,
And wished for winter’s coming, autumn’s fall.
Words Unspoken
The empty air in endless voids
Fated never to be filled again
With lies or otherwise
Left up to blank interpretation
A touch, a sense, a sigh
A breath of contemplation
A sightless trail of thought
An unfamiliar sensation
Vibrations through the mellow air
Disturbed without reason
No need felt to say a thing
Waiting for the change of season
Fated never to be filled again
With lies or otherwise
Left up to blank interpretation
A touch, a sense, a sigh
A breath of contemplation
A sightless trail of thought
An unfamiliar sensation
Vibrations through the mellow air
Disturbed without reason
No need felt to say a thing
Waiting for the change of season
Your Loss
Is this what society has come to?
Never knowing the difference
Between what’s real and a lie
They don’t understand the force
That drives the purest of hearts
To care for the darkest of souls
Scoff, smirk, wave it off as the norm
You’ll never know how much deeper it goes
But that’s your loss
Never knowing the difference
Between what’s real and a lie
They don’t understand the force
That drives the purest of hearts
To care for the darkest of souls
Scoff, smirk, wave it off as the norm
You’ll never know how much deeper it goes
But that’s your loss
