The Chester Zoo was well-maintained and interesting. It was cloudy all day (it's England, what was I expecting...) and a little chilly, but because of that and the fact that it was a Monday afternoon, the zoo wasn't crowded. Spring is a great time to go to the zoo since all the baby animals are born and prancing about. So yes, my day was filled with baby animals. Baby animals and birds. Beautiful.
But aww, look at the baby! It's taller than I am but...you know, it happens.
We went into this "tropical house" where I had the time of my life. You know why? BECAUSE THERE WERE BIRDS EVERYWHERE. And not just ones hanging out behind mesh, but like, actually flying around, walking on the paths, sitting on the barriers. The zoo just let them go wherever they wanted. Best thing ever. I didn't get a lot of good pictures since my camera isn't very good (and photographing tiny birds is hard, man) but I'll share some anyway, because I know you just love my photography skills.
We now interrupt this fat bird programming for a scene literally covered in cockroaches.
We looked at more monkeys and then the tigers (which I couldn't get a good picture of, sadly). Then mongoose...mongooses? Mongeese? Those are freaky little things.
Then...THE LIONS. A necessary stop, of course. Aslan and all that. We got to them around feeding time, so they were all gnawing on various limbs of animals. That was pleasant.
Speaking of meerkats, I SAW BABY MEERKATS. They are officially the cutest baby animal I saw there. Excuse the awful picture, but LOOK AT IT.
We ended our visit with the elephants, aw-ing over the babies, of course.
